Just thought I'd post as I dont really have anyone else to tell... I'll be switching jobs... This job has got me down, And horrible having to work around disease and violence all the time. And after cleaning an apartment that a man with hep-c use to live in, And now feeling a bit ill I wont do this kind of work anymore. I'm going in on tuesday to get tested to make sure I'm safe and what not... wish me luck.

Hep C,unlike ignorance, can only be passed on through blood to blood contact,so unless you had sex or shared needles with said person you have nothing to worry about. The majority of people with Hep c dont even know they have it.
The safest precaution one can take to protect themselves from any disease is to treat everyone like they have it,simple.
I really did not want to contribute to this thread but alot of young people read these posts & as a responsible person I feel it my duty to educate them with facts, not silly, descriminatory remarks made from ignorance.
BTW,you have to wait 6 months after exposure to be tested, getting tested now will give you a negative result even if you were exposed.

thanks for the info... i did some hunting and nothing told very much on it. sorry if i offended anyone :(

Good post, Greg!

Casey... my view is, don't go hunting around on the internet for symptoms and stuff... unless it's an official site or a charity that deals with it! If you're feeling fit and healthy, make the most of it!

Cheers!

As someone who ahs gotten Hepetitis and several liver/gall blasdder probems (at 17!) you WILL know when you have, feeling what normally would consider 'bad' doesnt come close.

It got to apoint where I couldnt eat or drink and I was pissing bile, basically hepetitis is really bad and I hope you dont have it!

Sounds like what my wife says... I'm such a worrier when it comes to medical stuff. And after stupidly cutting out flooring from that house then using the work knife to cut open a coconut... I worried :P

But my stomach pain which I had prior to it is slowly going away and the worrying is "ceasing?" to be.

Either way I will be switching jobs soon hopefully.. I dont like having to deal with disease and angry people all the sime :P

Anything has to better than cleaning up the mess people leave after they move mate.I dunno how you did it for this long, anyway best of luck with the new job.

Good luck, and never use a work tool to cut food bro...

Yeah, I've done that for the longest time... I cleaned it with a shirt and such after use like always... but I always use the same thing for on the job food without even thinking then later notice I did it. I'm not very bright :P Although from what Greg said "blood to blood contact" I figure I'm perfectly fine... It was the flooring next to the bathtub... and I figure from point a to point b and being a line as fine as the tip of a knife there couldnt be anything to get me sick, And I gots the big man upstairs watching over me, so... From now on I'm keeping the work tools in a separate area from everything else just to make sure.

As for the stomach pain I think it may be from my trip down to california awhile back... Going back and forth from cali to oregon always messes my stomach up for some reason.

Good luck changing job Thumbin! If you're fed up with your current job then change! I'm in a situation where I'm forced to change jobs but I just realized that I'm happy to do it. All my job changes ended up better. New perspectives, new stuff to learn...

Again, good luck!

I have no idea what I'm going to do yet :P I figure I'll take whatever life offers me... As long as it doesnt have to do with picking up other peoples junk :P Full time musician would be nice... maybe someday....
