Well, I just sent in my CV, application form and motivation letter for a new job, back in Canada... My chances are slim, but hey I got to try...

The job? Astronaut!

The Canadian Space Agency is recruiting astronauts, and I'm one of the 5000 candidates who applied for one of the two spots available...

As you can imagine competition will be fierce, but I owe it to myself to apply, since Space has been one of my motivating forces for as long as I can remember...

Wish me luck, I should have more news later this summer...

Any particular mission they are recruiting for? Mars?

Good luck...!

well for now it's just "routine" work on the International Space Station, but NASA and ESA are planning a mission to the moon around 2020, and an eventuel manned mission to Mars, but unlikely to be within my "tour of duty" if I ever do get in...

You don't apply for such a job every day huh ?? Very interesting indeed. 8)

wow!! if you make it it would be cool having a pic of you with a Warwick in Space.... "Warwick, going where no one else has gone before!!!"

Wooow! It would be like STar Trek! You will be Warwick Forum Modulator.

Well I'm not on my way to space just yet. I also sent my application to the European Space agency who were also recruiting astronauts but didn't make it through the selection process... 8500 applicants from all over europe for 4 jobs, so competition was very stiff!

I think I came from outer space...................but that's a different story......... 8)

so we are back to earth?

me? never! I always have my head somewhere in space...

LOL   that's good to hear   .

what about that new movie.... Spacemonkeys? anybody heard anything good about it? I am not saying you're a space monkey Jan but... what type of tests do these monkeys have to pass that a human can not pass in order to make it to space?

by the way i recently visited NASA in Houston and this was my 2nd time around. my fiorst time was about 10 years ago and it has changed a lot. for good.

TIP: it is good clean fun for anybody that plans to visit Houston sometime soon by the way.

Oh monkeys are not more suited than humans for space travel... They are just more expandable...

What an amazing conversation starter/pickup line this whole opportunity could be if you spin it correctly...

Good luck to this. :D If all else fails you could just pay Richard Branson a hefty sum.

yeah, Virgin Galactic is on my list of tour operators for when I retire... I just got to start saving now...

Jan; return of the space cowboy huh! :D

I agree with this - if you get the job and come back home someday, you will give new meaning to the Jamiroquai album/song. Second round for this song and the Warwick bass - look out Stu Zender! :D

wow!
good luck, would be awesome if you got it!

Good luck Jan! you'll be my new hero if you get in! :D
