Anybody own the Rockbass $$?

I`m a bit on the lookout for my next 5`er. Could anyone of you who owns a RB $$ please tell me what you think of it?

I don't own the RB $$ (I own the German Corvette $$), but there are a couple of people here who actually prefer the RB $$ over the German version. It's basically got the same specs as the Streamer $$( Maple neck, Swamp body), except the body shape is different, and you can't go in single coil mode (You can still use parallel/serial, though).
 
Yeah, I was acutally thinking the same regarding the Streamer $$. And regarding it`s about 800€/1100$ vs 2000€/2700$, I find it worth considering. Actually, a mahogany Corvette with maple neck would be great. I love that wood combo.
 
Haha, that isn`t $$, it`s $$$$$$$$$$$...and it`s righty.

No, thing is..I`m looking at a Lefthand RB $$ and a Schecter NT 3-band EQ mahogany body/maple neck/EMG, and together, they cost less than any Corvette $$, Streamer or whatsnot. I`ve recently picket up my old passive -96 Yamaha RBX 350 mahogany/maple again, and it`s a really smooth sound.
 
I hear ya, I was mainly joking around anyway... But yeah, 'buckers on hog' is my favorite too! :twisted:
 
Yup, gotta love Adirondack Guitars NY. I`d love the 2010 LTD , though. It`s checxy.
 
I have the 5'ver and am really impressed with it. I wan;ted to give 5 strings another try after my first one just put me off. Turns out I just don't like Ibanez. I felt like shaking hands with an old friend when I played for the first time.The sound can go from crystal clear to growly to thumpy. It woulds make a great jazz bass, classic rock and blues bass. It's good for funk but not my first choice. I got so comfortable with it that I just sold my Stingray 4 string and bought Streamer Jazzman 5. I am toying with selling to help fund a Thumb BO5. Then again I may just keep it as a back up.
 
Perhaps because Mahagony is dark and low, while Maple is bright :-)
 
Well, it has something to do with my first bass, the Yamaha RBX 350, with the same combo. It made my first bassteacher GAS for one and, for a period, drop his Stingray 5.
The sound from it is just so all-purpose. I`ve played brit-pop with it, metal, it has a great slap tone, the trebles are at the right frequencies, and distortion works really well with it.

As Florin touches, the dark body and light neck fills eachother out and and makes it a lightweight and easy bass to use. Lately I`ve been picking it up again, and I`m really diggin` it.
It`s so easy to dial in.

Most RBX`s now are made with alder body, but the rest is the same. Flo, do you know if alder and mahogany are far from eachother in sound?
 
Hi Charmand,

Mahagony is a dark, still tight wood. Alder is... well... the wood used in Fenders, haha :-) Quite different than mahagony, brighter, and it seems it is not very consistent from one cut to another.
