Any suggestions for new strings ?

Hi everybody !

I need some new strings on my FNA and I would like to know wich strings you used and why .. I play both of jazz and funk .. Last strings I both was Dean Markley blue steels and at this time I was playing metal so ... Any suggestions ? :)

Hi sYmon - The best luck I've had yet on my Vette FNA is with DR Black Beauties. The B's not tapered but it fits pretty easily and they seem to complement the Vette's natural tone very well. Give 'em a try and see what you think... ~M~

yes! DRs the way to go. i use long necks on my vette 5 as well. nice full tone.
 
I have a Corvette FNA Jazzman 5 and I play quite a bit of rock, funk, and blues, and I like my finger-style playing to be nice and punchy with good bottom end and my slap to have a more crisp treble bite to it, so I like to use Ernie Ball Slinky strings in a custom gauge (40-60-80-100-130) And with my Corvette FNA 4 I use the Hybrid Slinkys (45-65-85-105)
 
I've been a Warwick string user, but haven't been able to get the gauges I want. I found a company called Zon Guitars that sells singles in almost any gauge you can think of. I'll let you know if they're any good.
 
I've got a set of DR HI Beams going on my new corvette (or possibly the Thumb first). Same, I'll keep it posted :)
 
I tired the colored DR's and couldn't get over the Tin like feel and sound myself and the Ernie Balls have no life. I'm trying Elisers right now...
 
DR, Fodera, D'addario, Pyramid, Thomastik Infeld

Those are my favourites.

Is there something wrong with the Blue Steels? I use them on my Thumb BO and like them a lot. I've tried the DR Hi Beams, and frankly can't tell much difference (but then again I'm not the best at noticing subtle differences...)
 
I got those Zon strings in the mail yesterday. I'm still getting them intonated, but I like them. It might be too bright for others, but the low end can still pack a punch.
