Another trussrod dilemma.

Hi all,

I'll be breif on this as I know people will physically ill at yhe sight of another trussrod thread!

1991 Stage 2 Streamer 5 string. Custom build for Charlie Jones. S/N E07091.

Trussrod maxed out.

The bass falls within the easy change trussrod years.

Could anyone possibly tell me which trussrod maybe installed?!

I know this is a shot in yhe the dark type question and it could possibly be one of three rods!

I currently don't have the bass so I can't investigate which rod is insyalled or even if it is the easy cjange version.

Exactly!! :) You know the one, you can change them in the comfort of your own home.....old one out - new one in - It takes seconds! :D
 
should be 2 way
replacement rod from warwick shop might not fit without mods.

if not for a thumb I would put the one way steel version in
 
Are you SURE you need a new one?

I have two basses from that era that I was SURE needed new truss rods. It turns out, they just weren't seated all the way down.

Have you tried loosening the rod as much as you can, pushing it down into the body more, and tightening it back up?

The rod nut should sit about 1/2" into the truss rod socket - both of my rods were sitting about 1/4" above it at the time.
 
wow that`s not a minor poin there is very easy to do and if it works you re saving a huge headache!!

How many turns do you still have left on the fret less I sold you? When I had it, it was basically maxed even after I reseated it. What did you do to work your magic?
 
Same problem with my "new" Thumb, a 1996´th. I can twist the truss rod in either direction - the neck does not move a thing. Turning to the left loosens the truss rod, turning to the right - by growing tension - tightens it till it comes to an endpoint. No reaction from the neck. There is too much bow, the string setting at the nut and the bridge can´t be installed lower, still the strings are at least 3 mm away from the 26th fret. It is my third Warwick with such problems. My Fenders, LTD´s, my Cort, my Ortega, my Ibanez do not know such problems, always the Wicks...
 
Had a similar problem with my Corvette Fna Jazzman 5, finally I got mad, tighten too much and plof! the truss rod broke. 400 euros and 2 months later I had new frets, new truss rod, same problem. The neck wouldn't be straightened enough. I love my bass though, but I want to buy a streamer stage II, remove the frets on the corvette and see what happens! Hopefully the ssII wouldn't have the same problem.
 
I actually bought this bass lol...

There is a slight bow to the neck, but nothing light gauge strings + not being tuned an octave higher than a bass is supposed to be won't change!

It plays like an absolute dream.

Yeah, I was a bit concerned when it arrived, thought I was going to be decapitated by having a string snap and go right through me
