Another price increase

I just noticed that 2010 brought another 5-6% price increase for Warwick basses

If there is one thing you can rely on .... that's it

- so the crisis appears to be over :idea:

There must be less than 5% of our members that buy new,& 95% complain when there's a price rise,out of which 100% buy used,at an average they pay about 75% less than new prices.If 62% of that number were to invest 25% of their beer & cigarette money,at 7.69% for 2 years,they'd then be in the 4% of the population who's wages increase with inflation.

mmh let's see:-) out of my dunno 15-20 wicks I bought 5 new ones.

With the prices for used wicks still falling (at least in relation to mrsp) I don't know whether this was a good idea:-)) (economically)

in Germany we call this "Milchmädchenrechnung". Contrary you could just say: "If prices wouldn't rise, more people would buy new in the long term. Every used bass was a new bass sometime."

I don't want to talk about reasons for price calculations and whatever (everybody is free to look for some numbers/figures and decide wether it's reasonable or not) - but I don't like this argument and the way the company is defended for like EVERYTHING they do - if I have to pay more for the same bass now than 2 months ago I clearly see a reason to be pissed - even if there is a reason for the price rising. For me personally there is no difference. It doesn't matter how much I like Warwick stuff and some things the company does ( especially for us) - but I don't see the point in euphemizing everything. I don't think WW products getting more expensive is just for fun - they'd be glad to make them cheaper, i'm sure.
I was planning in buying a bass in the nearer future - the recent changes in pricing made it way more unlikely for it to be a Warwick.

I get your point, no offence ment by my statement - but even if there was some crazy illness destroying 80% of all bananas in the world, I would see a reason in the last 20% becoming expensive, but I would be pissed if I now really wanted to eat one! ;)
 
At the end of the day - it is a case to case decision whether to take several
grand for something pristine or just wait until somebody sells his:-)

Please be aware that I was not complaining about the price increase just stating the fact:-) And I was ... let's say a littel surprised, even though
they do this each year:-)
 
It's not just the price of new Warwicks that's going up. It's the price of EVERYTHING that's going up. I highly doubt they would raise their price just for the sake of raising the price. Wood, hardware, electronics, shipping and labor have probably all gotten more expensive and it's reflected in the price of the basses. It's just a natural thing that happens in our complicated global economy.

I only ever buy my basses new - does that mean my wages aren't going to increase?

+1, everything goes up in price every year. Why is my dad's football season ticket more expensive this year than last year? The team are still in the same league, they certainly aint playing more games and the stadium hasn't had any work done on it to make it more comfortable. My Nan's house cost her £4000 about sixty years ago, it's now worth well over £100,000.

In another thirty years time I wouldn't be surprised if the average price of an entry level warwick - or any other bass in the same class - cost around the £2000 mark.

Which is why, in the UK at least, the minimum wage gradually rises as well. This is progress....whether its in the right direction or not is another question completely.

So.....quit whining people!!!!!!!!! ;)
 
Well, we do not have Warwicks in our country so I'm not the least affected. I don't think any musicians in my hometown could even afford a Warwick. Maybe a Rockbass, but even so he has to save a lot to get it.

It's that prices go up easily because in the law of economics, prices are sticky downwards. :d
