I gave this a watch yesterday and again tonight. Makes more sense now, I think, but what a trip it is to watch him.
 
It's people like Peter Ivers that make the world interesting. If you like punk or New Wave music from the 80's, you should check out some of the bands who played on the show.
 
That's possibly why it's so "out there" to me, being born in 89 I was only really exposed to the grunge and burgeoning true-alternative being played by the mid-90s. I can watch movies from the 70s and I'll usually have no idea what the hell they're trying to say for some reason or another, as the entire theory of film making was so different back then.

But I do agree with his point, truly.

I may check out some of the bands he featured if I could get a list, I like the concept of old stuff being new to us younger people.
 
I do too. At first I thought Morty Ginkels was a network or record company executive, but I've come to believe that he's just a fictitious persona representing the ills of the leadership in commercial entertainment.

If you look in the lower right pane titled 'Related videos' in the youtube window, you should be able to see a list of other bands on New Wave Theater. One group for example is the Angry Samoans.

You can also do a youtube search for 'New Wave Theater'

I am forever a fan of Mr. Zappa after viewing that. :d
