Hi everyone,

I'm curious about this, and haven't seen any threads dedicated to this. What kind of amplification to you all use when you're layin' down the low end? I was using an Eden Highwayman 500 with an Eden 4x10XLT cabinet back in Canada. It was a nice mix of tube/solid state with a good punchy sound that could be clean or dirty when I wanted it that way. I've never tried a Warwick amp, but hear they are very good (maybe I'll take a run down to the music store this week and take one for a spin!).

Hi, I use EBS all the way to my 8 Warwick basses. A Gorm with 2x10, 350 Watts + an Active AC 300 with 15" plus built in 350 W amp. Increadible punch! I sometimes run it in stereo through my EBS pedal board, awesome 8)
 
I've had a ton of amps and cabs pumping my Warwicks over the years, including Peavey, SWR, Ampeg, Genz-Benz, and Eden, and they all sounded great with the Warwicks.

One of the best sounding rigs I had was a Genz-Benz GBE600 with an Ampeg BXT410-HL4. Sounded killer.

I've had over a dozen Genz-Benz amps and cabs, and I endorse their products because they're amazing.

I had to sell my GBE600 a while back and haven't yet replaced it. Right now, I'm using an Eden WT-400 and a pair of Genz-Benz GB210T-XB cabs. I stack my cabs end on end, so that the speakers are arranged as a vertical line of 4 (not really enough speakers to create a proper line array, but I dig it anyway).

Mara, I checked out the specs on those EBS's, and they look pretty sweet too!

I've used SWR and Ashdown amps as well. The Ashdown was by far better sounding than the SWR I had (It was a Workingman's 200 watt amp). One amp I still have that sounds surprisingly good is this early 70's Earth Sound Research 400W 2-channel amp (looks exactly like the old Peavy 440) that someone left in my house about ten years ago. It's an all-tube (12 tubes) head and pumps out 400W at 2ohms. It sat in a closet until I was about to throw it out last year, and decided to plug it in to see if it worked (glad I did too!). This thing is by far the loudest amp I have ever heard (never needed to turn it up past 2) and sounds great with my Corvette FNA Jazzman.
 
Jacob is right. I've played my Thumbs through Gallien-Kruegers, Edens, Ampeg SVT's, Peaveys, and SWR's, all with great results. Warwick amps are a little hard to come by where I live.
Being a Jack Bruce fan, my personal rig is a Hartke HA 7000 (similar to to the HA 3500, but with a pair of 350 watt power amps for bi-amping) with the Hartke 4200 cabinet, which is a deep ported cabinet that's loaded with 4 x 10" aluminum-coned speakers and a titanium tweeter. I've used that setup for almost 4 years and am really happy with the sound. I always use the direct line-out from the Hartke into the PA. 'Sounds killer. I've occasionally bi-amped into the 4 x 10" cabinet and a 4 x 15" cabinet, but this is really overkill for the venues I play.
When the stage is tiny, which happens too often in some of the blues clubs on our circuit, I'll use a Hartke Kickback 10 120 watt combo with one 10" speaker as a stage monitor and go direct to the PA with that.
 
I just use a Trace Elliot 300W combo. I used to have another 200W Trace cab, but I never used it, as 300W is plenty almost everywhere I play.

It has a good sound, but it doesn't give me goosebumps very often any more, so I'm open to trying something new (although I don't think the missus will let me at the moment)
 
My main gigging amp is my Ashdown MAGC210 combo and a Hartke VX115 extension cabinet. It's a pretty obnoxious rig.

I also love how it sounds through G-K and SWR amps. Although I think Warwick + G-K is the best combination to cut through a loud drummer and muddy distorted guitars.
 
I was using a Highwayman 500 also but decided after buying my $$ it was time to make a change. So I bought the Ampeg SVT-6PRO. I play it through a SWR 6X10 Golliath right now until I get my Ampeg SVT-410HLF 4X10 and SVT-15E 1X15.

I run my Thumb 4 NT and Tumb 6 Bolt-On Broad Neck through a Ampeg B2-RE Head and an Ampeg BXT410HL4 Cab.
 
I've played my Thumbs through a couple of different SVT's:
An old mid 1970's vintage model as well as the newer SVT PRO.
They both sounded very good.
 
I play a Thumb 5 NT fretted and a Thumb 5 NT fretless through a Phil Jones Bass rig - M-500 head, 6T & 9B cabinets - it's an awesome sound.

I've only recently changed from Ampeg SVTII Pro and SVT810E to the PJB rig but I have heard nothing but praise from everybody that's seen and heard it.
 
I'm a bit of a poorper compared to some of you guys.I play a Streamer LX4 through a Gallien Krueger RB1001-11 head & a Behringer BA410 cab (told you i was a poorper) and it sounds absolutley amazing :P
My Corvette $$ should be here this week :D can't wait to here it.
 
'Sounds good to me Artisan. I've played through a friends G-K with great results.

These basses sound unique and growly through any amp you plug them into.

I had a Firebass700... weighed a ton, but sounded fine to me. How do you like yours?

heavy as hell, and really nice sounds, but it sounds better with my thunderbirds..maybe it's just about finding the right settings for my vette :?
 
Peavey T-Max head - ways a ton but sounds like god, then my bass always does.
 
is the t-max the one who took place of the firebass? :?:
 
I honestly haven't heard my Corvette FNA Jazzman 5 sound bad. Whether it's through my little 20 watt Ibanez practice amp, or my SWR Workingman's 8004 T/O/P paired to either my cheap Crate or Behringer 4x10 cab, the thing sounds amazing. I used to use a Peavey Nitrobass amp and it was killer. Even with obscenly old strings it still sounds great. We're so spoiled!!!
