so guys...

i had a long journey now. after my 411nd and 115nd have been blown away by rehearsing i now bought two 4x10 hf from markbass.

first i have to say: ssII + ampeg + markbass is THE sound.

but here´s my problem: i am soooo scared that the cabs will break again. everytime we rehearse i listen very carefully if there is some strange sound coming from the cabs.
if something goes wrong again, i´ll have to stop playing in that band because i don´t have the money for new stuff. rehearsing is not fun if you can´t relaxe and just enjoy the wonderful sound.

here is my settings:
gain: 2 o´clock
master: 2 o´clock
bass: not boosted
treble: not boosted
i boost 400 hz, 900 hz and 4khz (all just approx. +3 dzb)

on my bass i have everything flat except the mids (+50%)

so to be honest nothing should go wrong. but my last cabs HAVE BEEN blown away. that´s a fact. and i had the same settings to that time.

so what about you? is there anybody else that is paranoid? :-)

one more thing i have to say: it annoys me that all those guitar-players don´t have to worry about there cabs. it seems that there is just no posibilitiy to overpower them.

sorry for the long threat but it just bothered me :-)
 
Peter,you should just relax & enjoy playing & stop worrying about your gear.As long as you're impedance matches & you're not pumping 2400 watts into a 300 watt cab with the volume cranked right up,you'll be fine.The chances of you blowing another 2 cabs is pretty low mate.You're more inclined to just blow one speaker,rather than all 4,in both cabs,& even then,the odds of one blowing are pretty low too.
What are the 6pro specs with wattage & impedance?Are your Markbass cabs 8 ohms each?iirc your head runs @ 2 ohms,so if you're running it at 4 ohms,you're not working it hard at all.
Relax & enjoy your gear mate.I can only imagine how sweet your tone must be with this set up.
 
you can try switching the cabs if youve been plying for more than an hour?

i play an SVT 4 thru a SINGLE 2x12 hartke cab... so if you are paranoid, what about me? *lol* i only give a 15 minute playing limit to those cabs in a live setting and im always trying to see if the bass is physically punching my cab a bit too much.
 
thanks guys for calming me a little bit :-)

my amp has 1000 watts at 4 ohms. my cabs are 8 ohms each and can handle 800 watts. so it should be fine.

i was concerned about the thing with the spakon-cables (see my other threat. retribution was a nice guy and tried me to explain the thing with 1 + and 1-, but i still didn´t get it). but i think i didn´t make a mistake with that issue, too.

Just a thought but maybe having the mids +50% at louder volumes is sounding a little like distortion...try backing off the mids at louder volumes and see if that helps. I've noticed myself that having mids set higher can sometimes sound like it's breaking up a bit.

If having the mids at +50% is 'your sound', try acheiving that same sound by cutting bass and top.
