Hi all,
Anyone had a mark like this appear on a fret before? It's not a wear spot (I don't play up there!), it seems to be corroded. all the other frets are fine and bright, and the bass lives in its case. Rarely used either. Not caused by strings, because a) not in the right place, and b) I use Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats on it, and they could not damage a fret like that.
 
Its a bit odd, but bronze frets will go dull over time, its just the paina that bronze gets. it might just be the start of that. You can always polish them back to their glistening glory.

On a side notw Alien Fret Corrosion would be a wicked band name.

The spot you highlited appears to have nothing to
do with the frets, based on its location. Based on
its appearance it seems to be caused by a drop of
some liquid. I would clean it with wood polish and
then ignore it, even if it's not toadally gone away.
Worse things, cosmetically, are gonna happen to
your ax unless you never play it. IOW don't sweat
the small stuff !
