About to order my new CS bass....thoughts

If you decide to go with a maple fretboard, I'd consider a matching swirly bubinga headstock overlay too keep the light color theme from bridge to tuners. With an ebony fretboard, I'd go with the normal black overlay. For a slap bass, I'd think maple would have a better flavor - but get a sweet flame or birdseye 8) . ~M~

In my original plan, i'm going with a swirly bubinga headstock veneer...that will not change, no matter what i use for the fretboard. It just looks too tight to 86 IMO.

aight....i think i have made up my mind! Maple fretboard it will be! I just hope the contrast between blonde woods isnt too much. For instance, the blonde strip in swirly bubinga isn't exactly the same shade as the maple fretboard. It will be a few shades off i'm sure...but it should still look good, especially with a flame maple body back.

The fretboard wood is more asthetic than it is tonally, although it obviously has some effect on tone. Since i'm staying with the ovangkol neck, it should have a great growl to it still. The neck wood is more influencial to the sound then the fretboard wood is.

So here are the final specs:
Corvette 5 broadneck
Swirly bubinga top
1A flame maple back
Ovangkol BO broadneck
Maple fretboard
Matching swirly bubinga headstock veneer
Name inlay on 24th fret
MEC active soap bar pups
MEC 3 band EQ
black hardware(possibly chrome due to the new flame maple back and fretboard)

Thats it! Hopefully it will look and sound good! we will see!!

Yeah...that was the idea....a slap monster. I will be able to get lots of great sounds out of this combo.

I have always had good luck with MEC pickups and happen to think they are really edgy sounding. I choose to stay with the MEC for now. I may try out other options once i get the bass and spend some time with it. I doubt i will need another manufacturer for the electronics to get the sound i'm looking for.

Thanks for the help guys!!
