About to order my first Warwick!

Hey guys/ girls,

I'm about to enter the wonderful world of being a Warwick owner and I had a few questions to ask about my up coming purchase.

I recently spotted a 2006 Warwick Thumb 5 string for around 1700 USD (1650 Canadian), so I hastely acted upon it. Heres a few things the seller listed

• Full bubinga body/neck
• Wenge fretboard
• Black Hardware
• The pre-amp failed when he bought it so he replaced it with a EMG BTC control.

And thats pretty much it. I called him and apparently it has only been a studio instrument and its in astonishing condition he even played "it" over the phone and it sounded spot on. There are some points that concern me though.

The price: Is this too good to be true?
The method in which he treats the wood: He applies lemon oil to the fretboard, BUT also the body and neck (is that a huge no-no?)
The serial number wasn't in Warwicks system, however, our good CEO and Founder H.P. Wilfer emailed me the information (hes extremely nice haha) about the bass, heres what he sent:

congrats! Ovangkol is a gorgeous wood anyways, the black hardware of course looks hot. welcome to the fold Brian!!

Just grab some Warwick wax....it'll be fine

The Body should be treated with warwick or similar polishing wax as it builds more protection than lemon oil, which is more for cleaning and oiling of the fretboard. You can also treat the neck to a bit of wax, but the grease on hands will normally keep most areas on the neck ok

Welcome to the forum Bvian!

That is a common mistake to look for the new specs on the forum, and not know the older specs. The bass is OK, don't worry, the price too

Lemon oil... no problem, I did that too.
