Hi Guys,
I have (had) a Blue Cab 20 - one of the old school ones from about 2004 or so. It's a nice little combo, but whilst it has a nice tone, it has always lacked a little bottom end. You need to crank the lows a bit to get much depth.
That's OK, and to be expected from a little combo amp... but a few years ago I had an idea.
I opened it up and hacked the speaker wiring to add a speaker out socket. The thought was to try the combo with a larger cab such as my WCA211 Pro (or then) or my WCA411 Pro.
The experiment worked nicely, and although it's very low powered of course, I dispelled the myth that an ultra low wattage head couldn't sound good with a big cab. The volume is not huge, BUT IT SOUNDS GORGEOUS! Big and deep and beautiful!
So, a few years go by and this afternoon, I thought I would go one step further!
I peeled back the carpet covering, cut open the box, removed the bottom section and replaced the carpet to make the:
BLUE HEAD 20!
Here are some pics - it sounds wonderful!!! The perfect micro head for home practice. Gorgeous tone at family friendly volumes.
