You were correct in your preamp knowledge Simon. Thank U - I appreciate your input to my question. I had never heard the MEC preamp term 'BEC'.
Question : Are the new Warwick basses with MEC preamps 'BEC' models? Or does MEC make a different preamp for Warwick basses now?

I am glad I asked because I learned something.

Hey, Dave! Everyone here will help, if he can. Especially our wise administration, they deliver the greatest support :D

I know not much about modern MEC preamps, but all of the basses I own/owned were equipped with MEC BEC ... preamps.
Corvette ash 2007; Thumb BO 2005; Streamer LX 2003; Steamer LX 2008 - BEC II.
Steamer Stage II 2003; Katana NT 2006 - BEC III.

Yes this is the best forum - an absolutely great group of bassists around the world participating here!

I have found that often the best products are the older products but not always. As time progresses and companies update and improve their products, sometimes newer is actually better.

Simon you list that your Warwick basses are built in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008. My Warwicks are a 1997 Thumb NT 5, a 1999 Streamer LX 5, a 2000 Thumb BO 5, and a 2006 Streamer Stage I 6. All have the MEC electronics. Are they BEC II or BEC III preamps?

Are all MEC preamp BEC models... all the way to the present preamps built in 2012? If not what years did MEC build BEC preamps and Warwick install them in their basses? Its trivial I know but I am very really curious because I've not heard the term 'BEC' in relation to the MEC electronics preamps.

Does anyone have a name and an email or phone number for someone at the NYC Custom Shop so I can order a replacement saddle, the 2 saddle height adjusting screws, and an input jack or two? I had one contact there and sent her an email but the email came back undeliverable. The Inquiry submittal form on the Warwick Custom Shop page does not work on a Firefox browser.

Hi Dave,

We are calling them simply MEC 2 band or MEC 3 band preamp. I am sure I've seen the same preamps sold before as BEC 2 or BEC 3, so it is just a name in the end, and the difference is visible, as a new one has half the size of yours :)

2/3 is more likely. :D

'BEC ...' is stamped on the preamp boards. These three letters mean something. But nobody knows what exactly...

Excellent MEC information Flo and Simon. Thank you both.

Flo: Earlier today I contacted the Custom Shop for a saddle and an output jack. They are still without internet service due to the hurricane but should process and ship my order in the next day or two. Dan at the Shop was extremely helpful!

I do appreciate your assistance each and every time Flo! Thanks to the forum as well!!

I am ready to rock this Thumb NT this week at 2 gigs.
