Hi gang,
I had a recent post here [ ] asking for help with replacing the electronics on this beauty and after some research and advice from folks on here I think I have settled my brain on the EMG BTS System (w/4 controls)...so after dismantling the pickups and electronics and removing the strings to give the bass a good cleaning I noticed that 1 of the original Schaller/Warwick tuning pegs is somewhat 'stripped', has a fair bit of play in it. I'm not really a 'gold' guy so thought I'd take this opportunity to change them all out to black ones. Back and forth between Hipshot Ultralites and Gotoh GB7's...decided the black Gotoh GB7's would look good and was ready to place an order but decided to remove the tuner and actually measure the hole in the headstock just to be sure...I actually removed 2 tuners (one each side of the headstock) and the existing holes are only 1/2" (12mm), the threaded part of the Schaller shaft is 3/8" and the smooth part of the shaft (where string attaches) is 5/16" It seems I require the 3/8" tuners as replacements which state thet they require a 9/16" (14mm) hole;...uggg!
I don't really want to ream out those holes...

My questions;
1) will they fit with-out modification? (I think not...)
2) does anyone make a tuner that will fit a 12mm hole?
3) any other options/suggestions?

I would prefer to place one order and deal with everything at once and get this baby back in commission,:?: so everything is kinda in limbo until I sort this size thing out...
Thank you for your time and help.
Cheers!

Schaller M4 fits 12mm hole...now have to locate retailers and comparison shop...

Amazing how a scratchy pot can turn into a bit of a project if you let it...I should be practicing ;)

Thanks again schlobo, you have been very helpful!
Unfortunately they are not that easily available in Canada; I've emailed the Schaller listed Wholesaler on the other side of the country who has not yet responded, I've also called a somewhat local retailer who is looking into availablity for me...
Any leads on sellers that will ship to Canada without outrageous fees are very welcome!

I LOVE this bass, got it for a steal of a deal but am now realizing that replacement bits are fairly expensive and hard to come by in these parts...hopefully after this one 'overhaul' I'll be set for a long while...
Cheers!

Warwick store? Last time I checked they still sold them, and I am sure they ship to Canada.
