Hello,
since i am new to the wonderful world of bass i have a (maybe stupid) question:
i know that for a 5string bass the additional string compared to a 4string is a lowE but what is the additional 6th string for a 6string bass?...
Thanks
Rob

C. Above the G on a 5st. If it were strung like a regular guitar, it'd be the B, but in bass it's usually a C. ~M~

Usually it's a high C, above the G...

Although some people make it a high F, and tune EADGCF...
And some people tune guitar style, EADGBE...
And some go one string lower than the B and go F#BEADG...

And many people detune anyway to whatever the guitards are having...

see? simple !!

hi!
actually it's a low B (BEADG) compared to a 'regular' 4 string(EADG). at least when using standard tuning. :)

It's a high C like explained by others here. On bass the rule of thumb is to keep your bass tuned in 4ths. Though this has changed over the years by many players who think different.
