I've purchased a 65 Strato Super and had some questions about the neck. This ones been damaged and I was wondering if there are any templates that replicate the angled neck pocket. My neck appears to have had a repair but is incomplete and need the scarf cleaned up and binding replaced. So by questions to you Strato owners is whether the necks do indeed flex a fair bit under stress , morso that most other guitars? Mine appears stable under full string tension but I can flex the neck a fair bit resulting serious note change. I suppose there could be some weakness at the screws.
Hence my thoughts to replace the neck .. it's a scarfed neck CBS type headstock and angled somewhere near 14 degrees.
Second question is regarding the radius. Mine is flat like a pancake. I've see others that show a nice radius. So, missing a bridge and almost all current replacements have radiused saddles. There appears a lot of fretboard material, should I radius this one or leave it so?
I put a roller bridge on it to string it up and check neck for stabilty. Seems just a little wimpy flex-wize.
BTW I have an old Klira Hawk acoustic, with similar neck construction and is very stable.
