I guess this is the right place to put this so here goes..

It's been a rough few months in my life. In and out of the doctor's more times than I can count and they still don't know what's wrong with me. Scary times, all in all. I have a couple of good friends here in town but due to conflicting schedules, we don't get to hang out as much as we used to so most of this has been a one-man show. It's not easy.

Some days I don't even make it out of the house, or out of bed on the really bad days. Those are the times when I most need something to help out and earlier tonight, that something was my CS Corvette. I guess it's been about three years since I got it. A few dings and scratches, some light pitting on the hardware, that one dent on the neck at the 3rd fret G where it got knocked over that one night in a fight with the ex... It finally, truly, felt like my bass playing it tonight and even with half-dead strings, sounded perfect. Absolutely perfect. This moment is probably the best I've felt in months and I had the desire to share it with you all. This is why I play.

I haven't been around much recently but I would like to say hi to everybody and specifically say thanks to the peeps from here that have been cool with me in the past - Greg, Florin, Warwickhunt, Doc, Bostonasphalt, EvolveBass, CarytheLabelGuy, Bulletproof_bass, Naetog, and the hundred or so others over the years that I can't remember their screennames at the moment :x.

Keep playin' - you never know when it'll make a difference!

Cheers everybody - Mike

Mike,

I am sorry to hear about your tough times buddy. I am also sorry I lost contact with you over the last couple years. If you need anything, please PM me and I can swing my email address to you.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for sharing your thought with us, both the happy and the sad ones. It is a honor for me to be mentioned as your friend, so thank you!

You know my email address and skype too, and I am always onlne. I am sorry to hear you've had medical problems, I hope it is better now.

Your CS vette is special for me too, since I've seen it when it was built at the factory, together with LEX's whitey.

i know first hand what health issues can do to you body and soul.i wish you the best of luck with recovering and it's good to hear that playing makes you feel better i know it makes my day pass better.

Hang in there Mike. Being sick always gets you down, & there's absolutely no shame in taking medication to help you through it.
I hope you improve ASAP. In the mean time, keep us posted.

Your health is top priority. I hope that being persistent will allow your doctors to figure out what ails you. The best thing I think you can do is just keep trying and keep your attitude as positive as possible.

And the bass! Keep playing that bass! Sounds like that's a good outlet for you right now. Keep it by the bed for those bad days. That way you can just roll over, pick it up, lay back, and pluck away.

Hey Mike,

Old friends sometimes offer the only kind of help to supplicate our troubles - even if those old friends are inanimate. But we animate friends are here, as well. I'm actually torn between emotions for you at this point. On one hand, I sympathize with your health condition whatever it may be - I've seen a lot and never are any two problems alike either in presentation or in how we deal with them. And I mean that as a doctor and a patient. On the other side, I am so glad that you can find encouragement in something like playing your bass. No one else may understand it unless they, too, are a musician, but I feel it as I'm sure your other brothers and sisters here do.

Keep playing. Keep smiling. Keep the hope that, yes, there will be an answer for you. Attitude means more than most anything else in dealing with illness and yours sounds at least like its on the upswing. Don't be a stranger here, as I'm sure that through some of these people (nut cases - LOL) you can find an uplifting message or something to make you smile.

Many blessings to you and yours and a heartfelt "thank you" for allowing us into your life.

Glad you know it's more than cool to share your bad times as well as the good. Did they check for paracites? I saw a show where long term, mystery illness was caused by unknown paracites. I'm not a doctor, just a thought. Best wishes and keep posting when you can!

As non-native speaker I alwayz find it hard to find da right wordz to say ... before I know it, I say sumtin stupid ...

I really appreciate all the people on the forum here - even with the car forums and some of the other online communities I'm involved in, when it comes down to finding the best people, I come here and read for a couple hours. Always end up laughing about something before too long!! thanks everybody - Mike

Also, somewhere out there in the world is the twin of my CS... I'm on a quest to recover it if at all possible so if anybody knows where it ended up please let me know.

Looks like this:

Congrats Michael!

Have I told you how happy I am to see you back here? We used to chat too, do you still have my messenger addresses?

Hang tough, my friend. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. ;)

Oh, and quit flashing that sexy birdseye maple, it's giving me severe GAS! :P

Man if I had that bass I would definately keep some pictures to hand as well lol.

I've switched computers and my skype login is on the old one. As soon as I get the cooling fan replaced on it, it'll be back up and running. I don't have any other messenger programs active but I'll try to be around a bit more in the future - and, if you ever make it over to the states and happen to end up in Florida, gimme a ring and I'll show you around town1 :) Mike

Next time I catch up with CarytheLabelGuy in Jax, I'm gonna see if he still wants to use it in one of their local shows, then we'll have pics from that to torture you with too!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!:twisted: I know he's mentioned borrowing it for recording some tracks at some point, seeing as how he owns and tours with my old Streamette and my 04 Ltd Vette and likes the way I set my basses up 8:.
