Old "new" guy with first post and first Warwick. It's the Corvette Std. Activ. in dark stain oil finish. It came with the Warwick gig bag and the full compliment of goodies including the beeswax. I've had it nearly a week. The more I play and experiment with it, I like it even more. My question is about care. Not knowing it's previous history, I want to clean it real good and treat the wood. Should this be cleaned with anything before using the beeswax, or is it a one in all treatment? Thanks.8:

If it's a dark stain, don't use wax on the body - it's already sealed with a satin finish lacquer. ;)

Use your wax on the back of the neck and headstock around the tuners.

Only the natural oil finish basses (without any stain) require waxing.

;)

Um, I thought the Corvette standards didn't come with a stain bc they are bubinga. I know they have colored bubinga basses now but I don't think they did back then. What body wood does it have? If it is a standard it will have bubinga like I said but if it has flame maple and a colored stain it's a Corvette Proline (not to be confused with Warwicks newer pro series basses) instead.

Thanks guys. With my continuing learning of finishes other than painted, I mispoke. It is the bubinga wood with natural oil finish. It's just that it's darker than some that I've seen. :)

The Bubinga standards were natural oil finish, whilst the Ash standards are available in natural oil or coloured oil finishes. The coloured oil finish is a confusing name as it's a stain applied with a satin finish lacquer over it.

Wax the natural oil basses, not the colored oil (or high polish) basses.

O... M... G.... how did I forget about the Ash Corvette standards?!?!? Now I feel like an idiot. Either way have fun with a sick bass!

My first was an 06 Corvette Std 5 string. Just sold it last night!

No! Should have let me know. ;)
