2004 FNA Ltd Edition - HELP?

So I played this thing. It's in real nice shape
for $1400 [retail]. Is that what these usually
sell for [clean used 4-string] ?

I can't find the control info anywhere on the
main Wick site. I can tell it has 3 bands and
a stacked volume/balance control. There's 2
pull-out knobs. The rear knob [bass] seems
to do coil splitting when pulled out [TJ PU].

The next knob [mids] is harder to figger. Is
it a slap contour or a mids freq shift ? All my
searching so far indicates no other Warwick
has this control set. So I'm hoping an actual
owner [or Flo ?] will know whazzup widdit.

This ax makes a whole mess of cool sounds,
none of which I'd call 'normal' or 'classic' for
electric bass guitar. OTOH, of the very many
"booteek" voices in its repertoire, I found all
varieties pleasing. None are harsh or useless
for even an Olde Skool type like me. But I'm
very hesitant about an ax with a wide palette
of stylish voices unless I can also readily get
it down to bassics as well, meaning it's gotta
have some amount of classic tone avaialble
or it will always be my "special purpose", or
"extra", bass. I wouldn't be able to gig with
only one ax at hand ... if this were the one ...
unless I can coax out the [thus far] hidden
stash of "normal" electric bass tones. Help !

The booteeky stylish tone palette is tempting
but I'm usually too lazy to carry two basses,
and usually have limited space to set up with
more than one ax on the floor, anywayz.

Acoarst I'd prolly switch it to flats, and who
can predict what new beast that would be ?
I spoze it's a snowball's chance in hell that
there's an FNA 2004 LE player reading here
who has flats on such a bass [hope-hope].

Second post in this thread should help with the EQ issue. I have no idea on prices.
 
The next knob is a slap contour Golem.
The 04 LTD is an absolute monster bass.Carey Jordan (Carey the label guy)has one.He uses it as his slap machine.

FNA Jazzman LTD 2004 5-string:
This bass is very special. It was originally used as my slap bass. It's tone is really the special thing about this bass, other than it's stunning looks. The tone is very warm, but snappy due to the Ebony fingerboard. It has a low-mid growl very similar to the Thumb BO, but with a fatter bottom and a warm, yet bright high register. The Ovangkol neck is what gives this bass a growling low-mids, similar to the Thumb BO. This bass is very powerful, due to it's MEC Twin-J Bridge pup, Single J neck pup and the 3 band MEC pre-amp. The twin-J pup can be split with a pull on the bass pot. The mid pot is also push/pull with allows me to select two mid notch settings. It's capable of really modern tones and really old school tones, with ease. One of the most versatile basses i own, second to only my Streamer LX LTD 2008

I have a friend who owns one, and I played it a couple of times. It is a very pleasant, elegand sounding bass, and I guess the ebony fb gives the bass this "boutique sound"
If I remember correctly, he paid 2500 EUR, that,s a lot in US dollars.

There's a 5-string on the German ebay site right now with a Buy-it-now price of 2100 euros.

Thanks to all !

I'll hafta go back to it and find those "really
old school tones" that Carey says are in there.
And it looks like $1400, for a retail shop, is a
very fair, even tempting, price.

Acoarst I need another fretted 4-string like
I need another insane lady friend [read that
aaaanny way you want .... ]. But, the voices
that this thing has are mesmerizing.

And then what happens when I put flats on
it ? And ... what happens if I swap the neck
to FL ? And if I do all that .... will all you all
roast me like a duck ? And who will buy the
old Vett that donates the FL neck and thus
would wind up wearing an ebony fretted Ltd
Edition neck with HPW's signature ......

Anyhoot, those are all helpful replies, and so
thanks again to everybody ... and I'll check
back in after I get some more play time on it
in the shop.
