I was looking for a Thumb LTD and these 2 popped up on Ebay. They were on not to long ago. Both just relisted today. Both claim to be 3 of xxx. One is 3 of 332 the other says 3 of 361. Whats the deal? Can anyone explain?

I'm sure someone on here can explain in more detail, but the mistake people make is reading 3/332 as 3 of 332, which is not correct. The initial "3" represents the year it was made (e.g. 2003) and "332" is the unit number. Basically.

yeah Evolvebass is right, its not its number out of xxxx. Mine, for example is 3/318.

Those two basses are good to go. I paid 1500 for mine off of ebay, but that was only becuase the seller was local. It is well worth the money, even used, but still.....big bucks for a killer bass.

Thanks guys,I appreciate you clearing that up for me.

Since we started making the official LTD basses in 2001 we have included a serial number plate that states the number of that series and the actual number of that particular bass.

In this case for example, the Bleached Blonde LTD 2003 is the 3rd series, therefore all of them have 3/XXX as the serial number.

Hey Mangas. What part of Missouri are you from? I'm from Cape Girardeau.......120 miles south of STL.

I'm near the town of Stockton, on the west side of the state. Its probably 200 miles or so from you.

Oliver;
I have a 2003 Bleached Blonde. The "serial number plate" reads 3/053. So the 3 is the 3rd LTD series and the 053 is # of the bass in the series?
I also have a Thumb Bolt LTD 2001 which only 150 were made and there is no plate on the back of the head stock, just a sreial # which starts with GC. I contacted Dale Titus of Warwick when I first purchased the bass [ in March of 2002 ] to find out what # of the 150 mine was and he stated to me that for that series Warwick did not number on that series of Basses.

Hello,

Sorry for the late response on this question, but I wanted to get all the facts right before saying anything here. We confirmed with our production manager in Germany that no LTD 2001 Thumb BO basses left the factory without the serial number plate on the back of the headstock. According to him your instrument should have been ordered through the Warwick Custom Shop with the same specs as the 2001 LTD.

About your other question, you are right. 3 for the LTD series and 53 for the actual number of the bass in that series.

If you need any further help feel free to ask again or shoot me an e-mail, I'd be more than glad to answer any questions you might have.
