Hello friends!
This is my first post, and I am keen for some opinions and advice. I know this topic has been posted before, but every bass, and situation is unique so forgive me if this seems like it's been asked before.
To be brief, my Streamer Stage I, 6 string has a bit more relief in the neck than I would like. For the most part it plays well, with a few buzzes beyond the 12th fret. Nothing serious.
My concern is the relief in the neck. I would like the neck a fair bit straighter than what it is.. the issue is that the truss rod seems to be right at the end of its thread, and I can't move it either way. I have had this looked at for another opinion and no one is willing to risk forcing the rod anymore in fear of breaking it.
My trusted luthier said that one option we have is to do a 'Neck-straightening' treatment which involves heating the neck then letting it settle, thus giving the truss rod some more room to move. My question to you all is, does this sound like a standard procedure for this situation? Or do I have any more options.
This bass is very precious to me so I don't want to take any chances. I apologise for such a long post..your advice would be most greatly appreciated!
Thankyou kindly in advance.
Kind Regards,
John
