I recently acquired what I was told is a 1988 Streamer with EMG's. The serial # on top of the headstock is "1660" and below that it say "88". Can anyone verify that this was or was not made in 1988? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Texan! :d

It sure looks like a vintage Streamer to me, and in perfect shape too! There are more knowledgeable vintage Warwick experts around here if you need a second opinion. :)

Mine was made a bit earlier that year and looks very similar to this one, except it's natural and shows more wear.

if the serial says 88 for the last two digits it was made in 88.

Everything looks as it should for a Streamer Stage 1 made in 1988 :-)

My guess would be a late 88er because it already has the second version of the 2 piece bridge.

Yes, it looks like an 88 streamer anyway. And sn confirms it:-)

Beautiful bass, congrats!

This may seem blasphemous, but I was considering replacing the preamp with the Aguilar OPB-3SK/PP. I love the EMG preamp, I just want a bit more hifi sound. Has anyone done this? How does it sound?

most likely the bass does not have an EMG pre-amp but an MEC pre-amp

OBP should work nicely
