From what I remember, it's bearable... BUT if you're staying there more than one day, you might want to protect your ears so indeed bring some protection.
 
Ear protection is widely provided throughout the fair but if you have your own, bring them along. I'll bring mine for sure.

Walking through the drum section, ear protection is a must!
 
during the first 1-2 days it's completely okay without ear protection. In fact I never had felt any urge to protect my ears - especially in the drum section it's not allowed to bring your own sticks/to give away sticks for free, so not everyone is allowed to drum on everything - only if you are really trying something at the booth.
according the "Jam Sessions" ... well... it's mainly a trade fair. You have options in testing a lot of basses, a lot of them amplified (not at Warwick, though) - but you can't expect anything more. There are a lot of shows with different artists jamming on the stage, but that's it.
 
By the way, regarding the Warwick private party, any idea on where it's gonna be held?

Maybe we could visit Musikschmidt but I think it will be crowded because of Messe-Visitors and they won't let us jam in a group.
...but if someone is gonna take an A-Bass with him and the weather is nice...
