What is the point of the passive mode on the Thumb BO? You still need the battery for the active pickups. Thanks,

I finally got my Ocean Blue Corvette $$ in the mail last night! This bass is super sweet - I'll post pictures and a brief review soon. 8) I was curious, though: when I put the humbuckers in single coil mode, which coil is active? The front or rear?

I'd like to know if there are any differences between a passive Corvette and an active Corvette in passive mode. I know they have a push/pull knob that makes it passive from active, but I've heard that the sound is still not the same as the true passive model.
