shrinkage

Hello fellow Warwick players, I have a Corvette that has a three piece neck and i can feel the seams in between the neck pieces , is this because of shrinkage in the wood? I thought it was a crack but it not. it goes all the way from the heal to the headstock. is this a defective neck or...
