hibeams

hallo, just bought hi-beams for the first time to try them. i noticed that the a-string doesn´t make a sound thats loud enough. so i got new strings from the store where i bought it. and: same problem again. the a-string is waaaay to quiet. sounds kinda dull. what is that?!! put back...

I just purchased some DR Hi-Beams in light guage, .40, .60, .80, .100...They are going on my Active STD bubinga 'vette 4-banger. Any one have any experience with this combo? I've been using DR Black Beauties in .45, .65, .85, and .105..I expect the sound to be brighter but will I lose something...

I know strings is a subjective thing, but I trust the opinions of everyone here more than what I read online in other places. I know somebody here has tried both because they're popular strings. Can someone give me a good review (not just "these sound better"). Thank you!
