    fretted / fretless

Hi, as a beginner i have some questions concerning the difference between fretted and fretless basses: - what is the differnce in sound? - why do they mainly use ebony fretboards on a fretless? - is it not too difficult to play a certain note on a fretless since there are no frets? Thanks Rob

My search for a Stage II Fretless V is getting very frustrating, not a single one for sale that I can find (unless we count the new one at SC Salford that I can't afford ;) ) So I'm wondering if it would be possible for my luthier to convert a fretted one to fretless. Has anyone else had this...
