18 volt

Hello all, Is it possible to make the MEC 9 volt, 2 band preamp that was factory installed in my 2000 Thumb BO 5 bass into an 18 volt preamp? I am sure someone has tried this and either succeeded or failed. I would love for this Thumb preamp to have more headroom like the 18 volt MEC preamp...
