what are the amps and cymbal sizes of your bandmates?

i have a fender bassman 250 "15 ... and i get drowned out by the following:

1.) pearl export series kit with 18" avedis cymbals
2.) 100 watt b52 LG 2x12 solid state amp.

but well, you are in a funk band... so you have bigger chances of being heard with a combo compared to me... who plays in a metal band.

well i'm not sure yet, we are just forming, but we will hopefully be playing in medium-sized venues like concert halls and the like.

i say we are gonna play funk rock, but we will also play rock, and possibly some metal aswell. i think the two guitarists will be using 50-100W valve amps, and i dont think the drummers gonna go easy on the drums!

so yeah i really need something loud otherwise i wont be heard. the fender bassman 250/210 has 2x10 speakers instead of 1x15 (not sure if that will really make any difference), and the warwick sweet 25.1 has 1x15 and 1x8 speakers. they are both 250W which i've been told is fine for a rock band.

I'd rather go for a half-stack. ProFet 5.2 and 411 cab perhaps?
In a funk rock band, bass is important. And with Valve amps, I find you need 4 times as much power in wattage with solid state bassamps. - especially in funkrock, ofcourse.

i understand what ur saying, but im pretty much committed to a combo. i like the 'easyness' of them. i cant spend over £400, so i'm on a fairly tight budget, and im sure if i go looking for separate heads and cabs i will go over my budget in a heartbeat.

and i also like the combo for portability - its under 30kg and its just one solid object, not bits and pieces and wires etc

Look into the CCL as well, it's lighter than the 25.1, has as much power, and has wheels and a handle for carrying it around...

It might be busting your 400 pounds limit though...

If I were you, if you can, wait for the 25.2 to come out, it's 300W instead of 250W, so you might just get that extra push you need...

Hey mate, what answer do you expect on a Warwick forum? :))
They are bot good amps really, you should see which one is better for you, so ... try them both.

With the amount of which amp is better questions, would you prefer someone just went out and bought one for you? :D

;)

If you really want an alternative the the 25.2 combo, do yourself a favour and go out and buy an Eden Nemesis NC210 combo, or the RS210 combo which is the newer, revised version of the NC210.

NC210 is 250 watts, and the RS210 is 320 watts, both are 2x10" configurations plus horn, GREAT tone, highly portable, and very loud. Might cost a little more though. Check it out and see.

surely the Warwick Sweet 25.2 is louder than that Eden Nemesis, because it has bigger speakers at the same wattage

Sorry,

But even as a very big Warwick fan, I must admit my Nemesis NC210 kills all of the Sweet series combos.

The Nemesis NC210s and RS210s are a little more expensive, but if they're within your budget, grab one. Certainly worth it.

There's more to volume than speaker size, and wattage ;) For example, the Warwick X-Treme 5.1 and Pro FET 5.1 are both 500 watt solid state heads, but the X-Treme is much louder.

Also - there's more to an amp than only volume too :D

after my experience with the fender 1x15 250 ... i dont trust combos anymore ...

i think you shouldnt too... there are entry level combos there like that ashdown... basically the same price and i figure theyd cut better.

get 2x10 cabs ....

thats what im planning

speaking of 2x10 speakers, ive just discovered the Ashdown MAG C210t 300 EVO II Combo. I'll have to try this out, cos it seems its the most powerful, at 300W - and people love it

I've had the Ashdown Mag 300 head that's used in that combo before, and an Ashdown Mag410 cab.

The Ashdown Mag series is very cheap, but are only average at best. The Ashdown ABM series is quite nice, but lots more expensive.

Seriously, the Nemesis NC210 kills it in terms of volume and tone at 250 watts, but the Nemesis RS210 is 320 watts if you're concerned about wattage.

You must remember that 50 watts difference is not even discernable. It takes a doubling of wattage before any real world volume increase is apparent.
