I'm new to the forum and would appreciate some advice on a used bass I'm thinking of picking up.
It's a 1997 Warwick German Pro Series Teambuilt Corvette Standard 6. It has Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups, a bubinga body, wenge neck, wenge fretboard, and a Just-a-Nut II. Full fret dressing was recently done. Pics of the bass are attached.
I think it looks incredible and would be a nice contrast to my Jazz 4-string. I haven't played it yet, but assuming it has no issues and that I gel with it, I'll need to be prepared to make a decision.
After scouring the web, I'm confused about what this thing is likely worth. I've read much about Warwicks having abysmal used market value and don't know if I'm looking at a $2K+ bass here or one worth less than $1K. The owner wants to trade for my Axe-FX setup, which I value at around $2K. He doesn't have the bass listed and hasn't named a cash price. I like the idea of the trade if it's a fair one, just don't want to make a bad deal in case I ever need to sell the bass.
