This is my first post so please be kind.

I want to upgrade my amp head.

Is there anything different between the Tube Path 10.1 and the Tube Path 5.1?

(Apart from the 10.1 being 1000 watts)

Thanks

Hello, welcome to the forum :)

No, they are exactly the same amp.
If you are planning to use it wit just one cabinet, for medium loud gigs, the 5,1 is more than enough. If you are crazy, and want a full stack, then go with 10.1. I had Tubepath 10.1 with two 411 pro cabs, and really, With the master at 12. o clock it was TOO loud even for stadiums. The good part in using the 10.1 one is that you have more headroom.

Thanks, im looking at around £500 for the cab.
What would you suggest for a 5 string, that wants nice lows but clear.
To go with the 5.1 tube path.

+1. The 411 pro is nice standard sounding cab. I love it!

It's not a question of outclassing, rather finding what cab you prefer. If you like neo drivers, you have that choice.

Hey man,
Yes, the W lights at tubepath 5.1 Nice feature, eh?
The ND cabs have a specific sound, less bottom end, mode mids, more articulated. I prefer the Pro cabinets, some prefer ND cabinets. The safe buy is the 411 pro, it has a conventional sound

concerning 500 watts versus 1000 watts, ive done big festivals with the x-treme 5.1 with 411 and 115 pro cabs and it was MORE than loud enough

Thanks for all your advice and im ordering the Tube Path 5.1 on the 17th of this month and the 411Pro on Feb 1st!

I want a rack case to protect the 5.1, just one to solely fit the 5.1 nothing else. And a snug fit at that. Any ideas?? any makes to stick to or avoid?

Buy somenthing SOLID and deep. The Tubepath is a large, and heavy amp.

Personally I like the Neo' cabs better, but I also run the 15" cab on the bottom of my 411. (better bottom end) The neo cabs are cheaper & heaps lighter. The money you save on the neo 411cab you can put towards a 115 at a later date. Then you have the "Rig from Hell!"

My tubepath 5.1 rarely has the master past 12 O clock. I play big stadiums & outdoor gigs. No problem. My 5 string has a killer B string also & theres no probs with farting (appart from me)!

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers

if you only want to house the tubepath ask for a 2U rack with "full depth"

makes...i use gator rackcases for a lot of PA gear (including a 12U case with over 100 kilos of amps in it) and other cases with EQs, gates, comps, effects and power supplies and so far ive had no problems at all with any of them.

for my bass stuff ive used gator in the past with no problems and now a warwick 8U rack which is working fine.

for a single tubepath both of these makes are more than adeqaute and they both cost about £80

I only use the 411ND and that provides enough bottom end for me, bearing in mind I play in drop C. The pro cab would be a safer buy but I think the neo cabs give a little more definition so you can hear the notes (and I mean the notes, not a string sound).

I recently bought a Boschma case for my TubePath 10.1. They're fairly new and not too well known, but it's an amazing case. Extremely tough, well-priced and funky looking too. They're easily as good as 'the big two' manufacturer's cases.

....incidentally, my 10.1 has has been used on a LOT of gigs now, and I absolutely love it. It's a great amp.
