Had the NT6 for a couple of weeks now and let the neck settle with its new pack of Fodera (custom steel, 49 euro a pack) strings.
When I take off the strings, the neck shows a serious backbow, except for the area at the first 5 frets. For this reason I can not turn around the removable truss rod to counter that backbow. Once the strings are on the neck returns to almost completely straight but it isn't before seeing a number of days pass until the neck is settled again,

So last sunday it was time to tighten the truss rod for those last 5 frets - the neck is now perfect - and lower the bridge. I had to grab my bicycle and visit a toolshop because my 2.5mm allen wrench seems to have vanished. I do not know why allen wrenches do this. But long story short I could lower the bridge quite a long way before fretbuzz started appearing here and there - here and there being both near frets 3-5 and beyond the 12th which is telling me the neck bow is now perfect.

This thing plays like a dream! And sounds better then I expected, especially with the pickup balance 60-70 percent towards the neck pickup it has a firm grip in the mix.
Only thing I do not really like about it is the bottom end dial of the 1990 (MEC?) pre since it sits at a way too low frequency. Could it be at 40hz? That would be rather useless.
Anyway I do not hear any difference between bass dial at neutral or bass dial at max. It doesn't seem to do a whole lot. On my amps I cut everything under 30hz by 6db or more because those are unwanted frequencies.

But yeah. I love this bass. It is awesome. With an external 10- or 12 band EQ it really starts to shine. I might replace the onboard pre for this reason.

I wish DarkGlass made a stacked pot version of their ToneCapsule. It should work wonder with a thumb.

afaik the „low“ frequency of „old“ BEC was at 100 Hz..but maybe I am wrong☺️

Where does one order such things? (I realize I have probably not been paying enough attention here :D )

Well that was the end of that little experiment. I sold them soon after I tried them out, they were beautiful and completely transformed the look of the bass but the change in weight resulted in neck dive, and I've got lightweight tuners on mine. So they came off and I sold them on Reverb to a fellow countryman owner of a Streamer...he should be ok. :(

It's just that the low dial doesn't seem to add much low end at all. Maybe that's just how a Thumb NT6 works.
Bass sounds very good, just need external EQ to add more bottom end when I need that.

Back in the club with a surprisingly fresh ´91 fretless. This thing is heavy as if it was made of stone ! Sound is incredible though.

What's the weight of the tone monster?? Can you play the thumb standing up?

Weight is just shy of 6kg. Clearly heavy.
Nevertheless, balance is not so bad due to the very heavy brass bridge. The Thumb sits horizontally, as excepted but doesn’t dive.
