I can get a Katana 5-string NT for a pretty good price as well as a NT Double Buck Corvette in Bubinga. Choices choices!. Is the 5-string Katana neck heavy?

    Hello there,

I´ve never played a Katana but when I look that big body I can´t imagine it could be a neck heavy bass, TBH.

    Cheers.

A lot of people on this forum think neck dive doesn't exist (i.e. the bass doesn't dive, YOU just want it at a funny angle!!!), and I found my Katana to be neck heavy. Not much, and nothing a set of Hipshot Ultralites didn't fix, but yeah.

I think you need a strap button at the 12th fret to get correct balance - the Katana doesn't have it. Then again, neither does the Streamer, and both of them that I had balanced unbelievably.

My Streamers didn't dive, the Katana dives a bit without ultralites, my Vampyre has moderate neck dive (helped with ultralites), and my Thumb will barely stay horizontal (no ultralites, put them on the Katana, they really helped when they were on).

Eh, the guy screwed a damn thumbrest into the bass. The OCD in me wouldn't buy that bass unless it were around $1k because of that.

I think of Katana as SSI with J/J config. 'The bass cannot sound any better' as someone said ;)
