The grey is the signal wire and the black is the earth, does your green wire connect to the same points on the PCBs?
Do you have a multi meter to check continuity around the circuit?
Are the wires on the correct lugs on the output jack?
It could be the output jack itself.

Here's a more clear version of verbs document.
The one green wire between balance and volume pots should be correct.
Since the bass is also silent in eq bypass mode you should check the wiring from the battery and on the right hand side of the image - through pickups, balance and the volume pot, which is wired directly to the jack output and ground from the two bottom right pins.

It's alive - with the Glockenklang preamp. Sounds real nice.
Thanks again.

Hey guys,
I hope some of you Fortress experts and connoisseurs could shed me a light on a question I have.
I bumped into a used Fortress at a reasonable price, I've notice there was a detail I've only seen on a few fortress basses, the carved cutways.
At first I thought it was maybe a rockbass body swap because of the glossy finish, but after a quick search I found a few pics on google of early Fortresses with the same glossy finish and the same carved cuts.
Any one have any info on this body version?

I had no idea these cut-outs were a feature back then. First time I saw these was very recently, on the following bass. I thought it was a special thing for one specific customer.

Exactly what I thought when I saw that bass!
I have the same bass :) It was done for the very first Fortresses til '93. Those bodys have been glossy and the electronic was passive (which is not a good thing mixed with the "balanced" MEC-pickups, only my personal opinion). I have seen some in black and in red.

Hello all,
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1996 Fortress Masterman in very good condition with a hard case for $900 USD.
I thought it was a great deal at first, but after looking at old classifieds on this forum, I'm starting to think maybe not as good of a deal as I initially thought. Anybody know what these cost brand new?
Is this deal fair?

Depends on the condition of the Bass. It is located in the USA, there Fortresses are more expensive then in Europe.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me proudly present my Fortress Flashback from April'96.
I bought this model first in violin-yellow, but in burgundy red it is much nicer
Weighting 4,5 kg she has a phat tone :D

Guys how would I go about checking the serial number on the headstock?
I tried the site a while ago and nothing came up
Went to have a look again and I'm struggling to even navigate on the there for some reason.
