I have been looking for a good deal on a 5 string Dolphin, well, ever since I got my 4 string a couple of years ago. I finally found one:

Very recent one. It has the new controls layout. My guess is 2017?

It was made in June of 2016. I forgot to mention it has Delano pickups and pre-amp installed, which is a first for me, and they sound frickin' awesome. It's a long story, but I had by bizarre coincidence, a virtually identical Dolphin with MECs to compare it to, and the Delano setup sounded much better to my ears.

Nice ! Great score especially with the Delanos. Although I never used them (yet) I know they are highly regarded in the Luthier's circles. Not so much fir big industrials instruments, which is a sign of greatness, if you ask me.

Blue cloth are there to protect the wood from the aggressive attack of the evil Rubber pad. I guess.

You are correct sir! They are scraps from an old t-shirt, and there to keep the ick from the foam pads off the necks. I don't know why companies insist on using foam that will turn nasty over time and end up leaving sticky goo on your guitar.

That it is. And I am really digging the smooth feel of that Ovangkol neck.

Is it contentious to say I like the feel better than wenge?

Not contentious at all I'd say. Sure enough it all comes down to personal preference but I prefer the feel of non lacquered wood with a fine grain.
I do not mind playing Wenge necks at all, just prefer the feel of Ovangkol to it. A laminated Wenge neck looks AWESOME though...

I can confirm the tone is indeed awesome and very present in any mix. I mostly use it with the tone settings neutral, pickups balance either 50/50 or 66/33 towards the neck pickup. On cheap in-house stacks I do dial in a wee bit of extra bottom end.

It is the best Warwick I have owned so far.

Do you know when Warwick/MEC started with the twin jazz pickup?
