Goodevening gentlemen, I've got a question for my knowledge appetite.
I'm undecided between a classical light gauge .45 .65 .80 .100 set and a medium .50 .70 .85 .105 set, both flatwounds for my Thumb NT.
I wonder what could be the true differences in terms of sound, response and feel. Can you help?

Well the thicker strings will feel thicker..because they are thicker..;)

They'll also be a bit tighter. As for sound i honestly don't hear any difference between string gauge sounds - and recommend you go with what you prefer - if you like light go for light if you want heavy tighter strings go for the medium set.

According to this website the thicker the strings the weaker the tone. It could be true, bigger diameter means more resonance.

People always told me to use very light strings on Rickenbackers because of weak truss rods. I used .095 on my sold 3001 and 4001 and I still use 'm on my 4005WB. I do have .100s on my shortscale 3000. I never had any problems with .095s. Still fat.

I normally use .100 but my Gibson SG Reissue bass and Buzzard have .105 and I can't feel or hear any big difference.

I want to try fatter strings on my Fender P, cos the D and G are weak.
