I live by the beach, so I have a beach cruiser. On the weekends I’ll ride for 4 or 5 hours straight…..I love this thing

I live in a mountain so a bike like that would be crazy, but I remember I loved to ride on a bike. :)

What I have / have had. I still have the bicycles not marked with sold:

    Cannondale 2.8 Road Series
    Trek 2300 MTB (sold)
A Trek road bike in Postal livery (sold)
    Lemond Chambery (Shimano Ultegra 10speed)
Lemond Tourmalet (an odd mix of Shimano Triple)
Lemond Tête de Course (Titane / Carbone, frame only)
    Lemond Victoire (Titane, frame only)
An MTB whose name I cannot remember (sold)
Trek 7700 (good bike, sold, kind of regret it)
Scott MTB (sold, I needed the money)
KTM Strada 5000 (carbon, full Ultegra, sold, I regret selling it!)
KTM Legerro Race (my touring bike with Ortlieb panniers)
Stevens in Scandium (the LIGHTEST alu bike I have ever seen, it is LIGHTNING fast!!!!!)
Stevens Strada 1000 (disk brakes, Ultegra compact, converted to race bike handle bars and Ultegra STIs, my regular ride)
    BMC SCL01 (frame destroyed...)
Ridley Icarus (full Campagnolo Record / Super Record.. my favourite groupset!!!! )
    Specialized Allez (Shimano 105 Triple)

And a few other bicycles I can't remember...

Of all the bicycles, the Stevens are the best, with KTM a close second, Ridley in third, Lemond in 4th and Specialized in 5th. Trek were OK, not great. Lemond bicycles were excellent but were actually made by Trek bicycles under licence. The BMC was the WORST bicycle I have ever seen, it broke because some asshole greased the seatpost (which the manual says not to do!!) and I over-tightened it to keep it from creeping. It split the frame.. Shit design BMC!!!!

    For motorcycles:

    BMW R1100R (sold to friend)
    BMW K75C (awaiting restoration)
    BMW R1150GS

    Some knowledge to pass on:

If you are looking to buy a bicycle, do it from a small bicycle retailer and NOT from a big box / sports store. Do your research, ask someone you know who rides a road bike who the best local retailer is. Then go to them, know what it is you want (this can be difficult), but play dumb when asking them about a bicycle. If they point you to the most expensive bike in the store, leave. If they show you a reasonable bicycle, do NOT forget to talk to the mechanic, ask him what he does when he sets up a bicycle for the first time (it should be almost a "full service" for some brands like Scott, Trek etc, not so much for KTM and Stevens.). Also ask if the first service is free (normally after the first 150 to 500km of use).

Do NOT order online from Wiggle / Chain Reaction / Large Retailers. It may be inexpensive at first, but you will have to pay to have the bike set up correctly at an Local Bike Store and that can augment the price (normally included free if you buy the bike from a local retailer). Also, you want to develop a relationship with the LBS (Local Bike Shop), that will be helpful in the future. Trust me. Cheap is NOT the way to go.

Get a bike for climbing... a Mountain Bike or a road bike with mountain bike gearing, I recommend something like this: 8X Gent - Stevens Bikes 2018

When I was in my early 30's I got into Mountain Biking for a few years, but I have to admit it was an acquired taste. At first I didn't like it at all, I remember thinking "why am I doing this on my time off" especially when I was going up hill....going down was where the fun was!

But over time I started to enjoy it a lot more, but I also started getting into a lot more accidents. So anyone looking to get into Mountain or Road Biking I highly recommend wearing a helmet and maybe some elbow pads....but thats just probably common sense anyway

For me though I'll always ride a bike. It really is my time of Zen. Its just kind of relaxing and a way of getting away from it all for a few hours....and being I'm a person who doesn't like to go to a gym, it's a great way to get some exercise

I've been working away for a couple months but I got stuck on the bus for 45min today! Tomorrow the bike comes out.
Giant Cross City 0 with disc brakes. Nice stiff frame with carbon forks and discs. perfect commuter bike.

No suspension, No gears, one brake. All you need for a good time. I built this up over a few years and the goal was to build a bike that reminded me of the fun I had as a kid on my BMX. This has 26" tyres and hydrolic brake. So much fun for doing jumps and general hooning around town.

Bought this one last month used in our local bike shop. One year old. Yes, I need a different saddle, something smooth but slim.

Yeah, something like this rowerowe rozwiązania by IM Produkcja/bike solutions

It has one speed, and the gear is fixed to the wheel, so basically when you pedal backwards, bike goes backwards. It is very basic, and a lot of fun to ride :)
Also, it is really silent :)
