That reminds me that in a store near my town they have a German-made, new old-stock Alien 4 strings. Maybe from 2006/2007. Last time I checked price tag was around 1100€. I don´t think I could ever justify spending that kind of money on an acoustic bass, but it sounds and feels so nice that´s very tempting.

the only German ones are from 91/92 they have a Wenge Stringer on the back of the neck a Jan1 and the rosewood decoration is flatter then on the recent models. Moreover, they feature a Lakewood pre (Lakewood is the company that actually produced the Alien back then)

there where some with a wrong label (found one at http://www.basscentral.com/)
they did not know about this but after they knew they still sold it as a German one

TBH, I´m not really sure about what year is that Alien, but I´m sure it has a "Made in Sajony" sticker inside the soundhole. I´m pretty sure that bass was in that store long time before Warwick moved Alien production to Asia..

And yes the Saxony Sticker is the erronous one
It is definitly not made in Germany price is still good though

yeah I think it made it look way better too. I have never liked chrome or gold hardware. I replaced all the hardware on my Thumb 6 to Hipshot ultra lites with a d tuner on the B string so used the old hardware on the Alien. I had to make the holes slighty larger as it appears that the German hardware is a slightly different size than the Chinese which I found a little odd.

Yes that´s the kind of sticker I remember that Alien 4 has.

By the way, since right now all Alien models are made in China, can you order a CS Alien? Made in Germany?

Really nice mod!

I was thinking about doing the same thing to a 6 string Alien Deluxe Fretless.. but also considered removing the high gloss finish, I can't stand high polish after getting used to natural oil. Maybe a matte finish wouldn't be to difficult to accomplish.

I haven't seen 1 alien in Argentina yet but I am really GAS-ing for one, so I will find the way to get it and mod it to be my "practice no matter where you are" bass.
