Has anyone owned or demoed a TC Electronics head or cabinet?

The tone and options vary largely over the several series they produce. Do you have a specific model in mind?

I 've owned the Staccato 51 which is similar. Very powerful eq, 4 bands with frequency sweep. Perhaps too powerful, enough to drive you nuts with all the posibilities. The RH450 has a filter that cuts of the high end hiss, which the S51 does not have. S51 sounds a bit hissy, RH450 a bit bland and muted. I didn't care too much about the tube emulation circuit but the onboard compressor is FANTASTIC. It is now available as a separate pedal. I didn't like the overall sound of the amp so I let it go.

So this was through a cabinet and DI that you didn’t like it?

My curiosity was piqued because MarloweDK from YouTube was rather keen on his-

Through a couple of cabs in our rehearsal studio, also at home with my speakers. Perhaps on a cab that's tailored to match it it will sound awesome. Perhaps class D amps are a matter of taste. I believe MarloweDK uses these small heads for convenience, or because of the powerful eq and nice comp.

In one interview he said he did a lot of his videos going from the RH450 direct into an Apogee Duet then into his Mac

I think Florin used it once or twice. Let's hear his opinion.

I used it for rehearsals and gigs for a couple of months.
Despite the hi tec looks, the feeling you have when playing one is of a vintage amp. The sound has that rubbery envelope.

It has a nice tube overdrive emulator, good compression, 3 presets, and tuner! :) I don't think I enjoyed playing another amp more than RH450. It doesn't mean it was the best of the amps I played, It just means I had a lot of fun playing it, you know, like when you cannot stop playing.

I tested it together with a 2x10 cabinet- combo sleeve. Awesome cabinet for small places, I gigged it in a place notorious for it's boomy sound, and again- it was great. I was impressed by it's focused but sweet sound, with a tubey feel.

Not in the same league as my Hellborg when it comes to DI out sound. It can be a bit dark/ muddy for FOH, even with bright settings. But then again nothing is in the same league as Hellborg :)

Great amp, and I think I will buy one soon!

Sorry brother, it stands from Front Of the House. I tested it side by side to my rig, and listened on the PA, and TC was lost in the mix compared to Hellborg. But as I said, any amp I tried was lost in the mix compared to Hellborg preamp :)

It occurred to me that it would be a good companion to the DUET and Mac on the go in addition to playing small gigs-- that is why I am interested as well. I've been doing some shopping and I would consider buying a used one from a reputable seller, given the quality of build of TC Electric products-

Again, thank you for the feedback brother!
