I've just recieved my new second hand Streamer Jazzman 5 string, purchased off the internet sight unseen. I was expecting a standard Jazzman but what I have is a little different. Ash back with a Harewood top and 5mm of what looks like Walnut in the middle. Standard neck/board. Also has the Seymour Duncan 3 band preamp. I guess this was somebody's custom order? I'm not sure, but I think the store where I purchased it may have imported from somewhere (I'm in Australia) so doubt they know anything. Was not advertised as anything different. Is anybody able to tell me the claimed sonic properties of Harewood? Not a timber I've ever come across before. The serial is D-074368-00.

    Thanks in advance, Berin.

Yeah, I'm sure someone here can shed some light. I didn't mention that it's finished in a gloss clear coat. I also just realized that because of the age the SD pre is standard fittment. The jazz pickup doesn't have the MEC logo, just a plain black cover. Perhaps it's been replaced at some stage?

When I was shopping for Warwicks originally, I found so many that did not look like the pictures from the warwick webiste. Im guessing they were custom orders.

Well, that one is not a standard but as said earlier - Olover can help when he is up and awake  (Dominiqan Republic probably has night right now)

The bass is Custom Shop instrument conceived of an Ash body, ovangkol veneer and a Harewood top. The rest is standard in any Streamer Jazzman bass.

Thanks for the assistance folks. It is an interesting looking bass. I have heard mention of a very similar bass being shown in the Warwick catalogue back in 2000 and thought Warwick may have bolted a few of these together back then.

It was purchased from a dealer in Qld who seems to specialise in imported Japanese guitars and I assume this may have been imported also. I have asked for any information he has, but as yet no reply.

    Cheers!

First use with the band tonight and I really dig it. Certainly the most versatile bass I've owned. I like it a bunch more than the Thumb BO broad neck I had and does a better Fender sound than my old USA Precision Bass Plus.
