Looks like bubinga 6 string with black hardware... maybe a NT? I bet the extra pickup is a MIDI pickup too...

It's a regular bubinga Corvette 6 string with a midi pickup.

i'm no expert but it should pick up the vibration from the string and send it via '1's and '0's to a midi convertor, from there you can basically assign any sound to the string you like so you can trigger pianos,sax's,penny-whistle sounds....whatever is in your sound arsenal :) I was toying with the idea of this myself actually with one of the band's I'm in just now. I'm using Amplitube software through my mac to get really cool effects - very nice software !!!

MIDI = Musical Instruments Digital Interface. Basically it let's you control sounds from a computer source, i.e. a laptop or a keyboard/keyboard rack unit.

The MIDI pickup with the MIDI interface, transforms your sound into MIDI signal. the Midi Signal is like a command : - " you play the G2 note, with this intensity" It's a command, it has nothing musical inside.
So that command goes to a module, or a laptop, and it plays any instrument you want. In a module you can have strings, synths, human voice, anything...
