If there is one bass model you do NOT want to play, which one is it?

Here is my absolute number one choice:

Wow big call, I have played a few foderas and they are lush! Have you actually played one or are you just going on looks?

One day want to own an Anthony Jackson presentation. I'm waiting for my mid life crisis to kick in before I drop 20 + K on a new bass. It will happen though.

The basses I hate the most are the ones made by Ibanez, They are all just generally shit.

I would never pick this up if I saw one in real life. Id rather just give up bass and play guitar or something, Gross!

Once I met a guy that played one of those. He was a huge as*@&le, mediocre bass player in a mediocre Pink Floyd tribute band who told me that when I grow up and be serious about bass, I would get a Fodera, because that's what real bassplasyers do. More or less.

Since that day I try to stay away from as*@%les and their Foderas. :)

(Please, I'm not saying any of you is like that guy, only telling you why I'm not feeling like playing one of those basses.)

Hehe enjoying the thread so far guys. Keep em coming!

Here's another I find just too grotesk to play:

I'm sure there are complete wankers playing all sorts of basses and saying dumb shit.

Its like saying you will never buy a Toyota because you saw a fat chick throw rubbish out the Toyota corolla window one time.

    that's a bit odd.

But this happens. In both ways. How many people play a special bass just because one of their idols did, thinking this bass is doing magic?

The human mind can be odd and illogical. Associations can be tedious.

I played an emperor 5 once and prefered my Dolphin to it at the time. I found the Fodera too clean and transparent sounding to my taste. They are without any doubt very good instruments tho. Just not fit for Rock&Roll.

    Hofner:

Have played 2 different types really didn't like either

    Fodera:

Never even seen one. Although apparently there is now 1 in NZ (Wellington)

    Warwick:

Hit or miss IMO. Played a passive Corvette which was very nice and a MM style Fotress and a PJ Fortress which were both cool

Played 3 Thumbs, 2 were pretty awful, but the other one was def a unique thing.

    Ibanez:

Played some shockers but an ATK(?) I played maybe 15 years back was excellent value for money and going back to the late '80s I played for a few months IIRC a Roadster II five string. It was ok ish

End of long story. Not sure I'd write off a brand full stop.

C'mon, guys, Marco asked a question and I answered as sincerelly as I could. That's my reason to find Foderas like something I don't wanna play. That's it. :)

This is not maths or rocket physics, music and musical instruments are about feelings.

I can understand that, Nacho, I played Foderas and Alembics before, awesome instruments, but somehow I feel like they are too pretious looking for me, I am not the kind of guy to play too fancy basses. But this is offtopic, as I would play a Fodera anytime if needed, in studio or something.

    I've never met a bass I wouldn't play.
    Tried a lot, too.
It's like women. I've dated tall, short, white, black, redheads, tiny boobs, big asses, so many different shapes and flavour.
However I never met a bass that made my drop all others like my wife did for women. It means I still have to try a lot of basses.
Come to think of it, I never Frankenstein'd any woman to my particular taste either.... :)
