This is paraphrasing a report int magazine published in Australia:
"Scientists have discovered that the part of the brain that is active during musical improvisation disables the areas that control unconscious, impulsive facial movements. By scanning the brains of various jazz muscician improvising on their intruments researchers were able to see which parts of the brain are active during musical improvisation and which areas are normal or depressed. This explinas the odd facial expression that guitaristshave during performances. Control over unconcious facial movements is reduced during improvisations. THe vacant-stare and jaw-jutting aspect know as Bass-face continues to puzzle scientists."
This is for true, i saw it in a few different, and reputable publications.
I dont have any pictures, but I have sometimes been sitting in my own little world, playing and suddenly noticed that drool have been dripping. Looking around hoping noone saw it...
And Ive seen films of being on stage, and all I see is a guy that looks like he hates it. I hardly think of people around me, just thinking of the song im playing.
