    Hello All,

I want change out my hardware from chrome to black. I see that the bass place sells all the Warwick hardware.

My question is I see that they have an all brass two piece bridge for $350 or they have a standard one for $149. I would prefer to get the cheaper of the two. Will I be missing anything in tone for going without the brass bridge? Also, what comes standard from the factory?

    Thanks

    Shaun

brass for masterbuilt alloy for teambuilt

alloy was standard for many years (1994-2013 iirc) for all wicks

like the reintroduction of wenge as neckwood the new brass thing was based on discussions on this forum I think.

soundwise the difference is probably homeopathic - the recent alloy ones are very good quality.

Back in the nineties there was a period where they used cheap materials the led to deformation of the bridge eventually but this is no longer an issue.

so in short it is a boutique vs makes sense thing

I am expecting fresh hardware to replace this and other parts on a friend's bass. I was about to ask if the quality is any better now but you already answered, so thanks Sascha. :)

It is pretty easy to straighten it, then you can set it up and place a shim there. I've seen that to 6 strings only. SInce the saddles are adjustable, it is not such a big deal.
Brass vs alloy, I think schlobodan is right somehow. The added mass in the already massive bridge has an influence. I think I noticed a more consistent sound in warwicks with brass bridges, but some of my best sounding Warwicks had alloy bridge.
@schlobodan , I bought from you that beautiful 5 strings vintage streamer, the schaller 3D bridge had a wooden base instead of brass. I replaced it with a brass plate, and it had a pretty good influence in sound.
I think the brass bridge can be an upgrade, but then again 350 bucks is pretty expensive. If you are happy with the sound, I don't think it worth the price. My vintage streamer lacked sustain on some notes, and extra mass fixed that.
Also please note that we already have at east 3 sizes, some may fit, some not. Make sure you measure your bridge, and ask the shop to give you an exact measurement.

I have leftover gold parts bridges etc so if you need something that justifies shipping ...
