They do not last that long how I would like it looking at the price. Still I am stuck to them because they just fit to the Buzzard. Also my Corvette $$ is equipped with them. They last years over years if you keep them clean. Too bad I sooner or later I play away the gold coat and that always means death to them. Even though they stay audible, other strings get useless at all.

Good to know. So far, so good for me though. I guess time will tell. :)

I find the pretty long lasting. They do change sound, but they sound great even when old. And with that "slap the shit out" trick, you can easily use one set one year :)

When getting worn they start to sound like cardboard, but they keep playable. For my sound I need 3 to 4 sets each year. Time for an endorsement! :p

Maybe. But nobody played more than Florin. Actually his opinion is much more professional than mine. Still: I guess I play one set for 50 to 70 hours, not more. Because I have 4 to 5 basses in action all the time I don’t kill them faster. Elixir strings last much longer. Too bad I dislike them. So I stay at the shiny Optima Gold!

The current set is through btw. Tomorrow should be new string day!

No, you are right Hardy, if you are looking for the bright new sound they last as long as most of the strings do. I don't think they last longer, they just sound nice (to my ears) when old.

New Optimas Day is always a special day, take pics :)

Thanks guys! All said, and since longevity was not my primary motivation, I'm sticking to my guns that for me, they're worth the extra shillings. They look, sound and feel great on the Buzzard. :)

I would need a better range for myself. Maybe next year.

I just saw that my favourite set of Optima - 2399 - went up to 44,- EUR. This is the end of a long friendship. I change to Pyramid.

I’m looking forward to your impressions of the Pyramids. I’ve been playing the 2409 Optimas.
