well my shiny new Thumb bass has just arrived & man it is just gorgeous, the quality is amazing especially for the silly price i paid from Thomann.
i can't see a serial number on it though,my PS corvette has it stamped on the back of the headstock but i can't find one on my Thumb.
    is this normal ?

i don't suppose it matters but just wondering.

:EDIT the warranty registration card has the serial number WPSA 000098-13
but there is nothing on the bass.

might have been overhauled by Warwick - e.g. got a refinish on an Alien and then the Madi in China was gone:)

    Nope, maybe Korea ?
German Pro Series have a serial beginning with WGPS.
(Note that I might as well be mistaken, I just looked this on the Warwick WebSite...)

I guess the pro series is made in China, assemble in Korea, there are a lot not "rockbass" Warwick parts sell in China, I bought a lot of them to assemble my own custom Warwick

Would you post some pics so we could have a visual idea of how your chinese/korean bass looks like?

I guess my "non German" Warwick isn't good enough for you "propper" Warwick owners

all i wanted was an informed answer to my question but it seems that my "non German" bass has become a target for some peoples scorn,oh well.
this forum wasn't like that when i first joined it in 2006 :(
it was a friendly helpful forum back then.

unless i have misunderstood your sense of humour,in which case i appologise for taking the huff.

They are just kidding. A little bit rough maybe!

Otoh there are indeed some strange happenings in the last time in the Warwick sphere. Wrong product informations (about electronics for example), wrong placed positioning markers of fretless basses, unclear location of the production of some series, strange "produced in Germany but assembled in China" matter... just things we are talking about and making some jokes about it. Often the posts in one thread are based on posts in a complete different thread or refer to running forum gags. That has nothing to do with "scorn", but easily can appear cryptic.

I think this forum is very helpful. In the end every of my problems found it´s solution, every question an answer so far.

thanks Hardy, much appreciated, nice to know its just a bit of banter,i guess i'm just a tad touchy at the mo' due to a very close, very sudden & very unexpected family bereavement.
so i appologise for being a bit touchy guys.

the lack of serial number doesn't really bother me i just thought it a bit strange, the bass itself is very nice indeed & i am extremely happy with it.
I would dearly love a German Thumb bass but alas they are currently out of my reach, but i will have one one day.

Actually Sascha was not kidding, it was about HIS bass - Alien, made in China that was fixed in Germany, and MIC disapeared. It was nothing targeted to you, we are all brothers here, and many of us own Korean and Chinese basses. The PS Starbass I used to own was one of the finest basses I've ever played.

    Love!

makes me wish i had kept the MIG Warwicks i owned when i was younger & stupid.
