So this "little" thingy arrived yesterday
I plugged in my head and gave it a quick try - it was 9PM, kids were going to bed.
And then tucked it away, because, you now, one must have some great ideas :
SO : Out of the box, the quality seems very solid. It's heavier than what I imagined at 18.5kg, but it's less than half the weight of my 410 It's really manageable with one hand.
A quick A/B against the 8x8 confirmed that I love my Henry : the lows are deeper, and softer, it's significantly louder, too (being a 4Ohms).
On his own, the 212 seemed really quiet. My head develops 375W at 8Ohms, I figured it would be louder. I have yet to play it in a real configuration and not in the middle of the room, I guess the loudness will be better when placed in a corner, or at least against a wall.
The sound of the 212 is - again, despite what I believed - clearer than with the SWR rig. The frequencies are more even, great mids, the low strings have a nice zing, the amp shines really through this cab, it sounds very "modern". The definition is amazing, too, it's really tight, and it transcribes the thumpiness by TumPiness. It's not shy, I like it.
It's really just the first impressions after 7 minutes of playing in the middle of a room, so I guess I'll be able to give it a better try, but I'm overall pleased with this cab, Modern sounding, welle defined, We'll see what it can do in a live situation next week.
I have yet to A/B it with the 410, and try the 4Ohms combination 410+212.
If I bought a Hartke LH1000, I would be able to drive the 8x8 on one side and the 410 + 212 on the other, and probably create some cahotic moves in the tectonic plates.
