    Hi folks,

Does anybody has the opportunity to compare those two compressors pedals?

I am having a hard time to decide and I do not have the possibility to directly try them.

    So far for the Compressore:
    Pros/cons
-I like the classic controls including attack release
-Tube compression, described as warm and efficient. However, I play trough a full tubes amp (Ampeg PF20T) so I am doubtful that staking an extra tube in the chain is a real plus in my case.

    For the hyperluminal:
    Pros/cons
-lot of good reviews, 3 kinds of compressions , intuitive controls/easier to achieve a good sound?
    - not attack/release separated controls
    - Darkglass hype and aggressive marketing usually coming with a swarm of dithyrambic youtubers reviews makes me suspicious
-Indeed, I bought an alpha omega disto few years ago based on this kind of review but never really enjoyed it, I prefer my Pharaoh Supreme.

Compressore cons: Footprint, needs 12v, too many knobs for a bassist. I found the tube warmth lacking completely, tubes runs on too low power probably. I sold it
Hyperluminal cons: Too transparent, I am looking for a compressor to give me that extra texture that makes my tone more solid and more grippy in the mix.

To tell you the truth my advice is to get this one instead:

    Why?

It has comping (blending clean and compressed signals).
It has a high pass filter dial so won't squash your bottom end.
It adds that texture the other two mentioned compressors don't.
It does not colour your tone other then making it more solid.

I totally love this pedal, if I could use only one pedal on my board this would be it.

I'm betting it's less noticeable through your good tube amps, but the Compressore adds a very noticeable warmth when run in front of a solid state amp. To my ears anyway.

The Cali76 looks really cool, though. At first I was skeptical about having attack and release on the same knob, because I prefer a slow attack and fast release. But if I'm reading the controls right, this is precisely how the dials work, correct? Slow the attack, and the release speeds up (or vice versa).

Exactly, sir! Slow attack and fast release or vice versa. I prefer it right in the middle.

That's the ting isn't it - I found the Diamond comp not so good but I only tested it with active basses.
The Diamond is awesome for oldskool pbass tone. The Hyperluminal if you want transparent compression, the Aguilar TLC if you want lots of punch etc. etc.

The Cali76 makes my tone grippy within the mix but is otherwise transparent- this is why I prefer it.

It is all a matter of personal preference in the end.

I also LOVE the old Trace Elliot SMX dualband compressors by the way. If you can snatch up one of those in the used products market I highly recommend it.

Back on topic: Of the two comps mentioned I would go for the Darkglass.
It is more flexible, has brilliant and professional options when you hook it up to your pc through USB (lots of stuff to tweak!)

Only sold mine because I liked the Cali even better.

I finally bought the Cali76 bass.
    What a blast!

I can only compare with my old Aguilar TLC but this is so true.

    Thanks for the advice;)

Well I've been thru quite some compressors before landing at the Cali.
It actually improves my tone without any downsides, period.
