... Or jus a 'vette STD with a changed truss rod cover? My doubt comes from the ash body.
What do you think?

Thanks.

I would say Proline, because it does have the active EQ which should make it easy to spot.
BUT it also has passive pickups, but I think that has changed around over the years from passive to active and such.
What does the back of the neck look like?

looks like a regular warwick $$ corvette.
However there is nothing regular about soap bar PU's and in and out phase switches, along with Actives.
I blow a lot of minds with the sounds that I produce from one instrument!

Not a "regular" $$ per se...looks like a Pro Series. Glad you're enjoying it! Beast of bass. Have fun!

Seems like a regular $$, if you have in/out phase switches instead of parrelel/single/sequantial then its a modifed bass.
still an $$ tho.

What year is the Corvette Proline? I have a magazine review of the Corvette standard when it was released, and the featured bass has a Proline truss rod cover.
I thought the Corvette Proline had a maple body.

I'd have to double check, but I recall the Proline was the Corvette model to go into production in '92. They did eventually have a maple, flame-maple body, but it looks like the first and then some later ones were indeed Ash. Here's a '92 with what looks to be an Ash body:
https://reverb.com/item/6608789-warwick-corvette-proline-1992

That is of course if you don't count the originator of the Corvette model, the '91 LTD "Infinette"...or also known as the "Streamer Corvette".

It looks like there must have been a run of Ash body models, 4&5, at least in '95, which is where that four string in the Basschat ad is that I posted above.

@verb What year did that magazine review come out? If it was early '90s, It wouldn't surprise me at all that a review at the time would list the Proline as a standard Corvette, or just a Corvette, when that was the only Corvette around, sans the LTD the year prior. If that review came out early 2000s, maybe it was just a mistake with the photo.

I don't recall when the classic as we know it now standard Corvette came out, minus the proline tag. Maybe early 2000's ish...after the FNA made it's appearance for a while.

I'm getting a little bit rusty with my timeline, of course correct me if any of that is incorrect, dear Wickheads ;)

Great info, gracias. 😊

I have to ask the seller for a pic of the back of the neck and headstock.

Wow, the neck! Yeah, time for some research on Proline necks. This could be a rarity...I'm not sure. That '95 Proline in that Basschat sale linked above, has what I thought was the standard wenge Proline/FNA neck up until 2000ish when ovagkol came around. That was a 4 string, maybe the 5's has. Hmmm. Need coffee, brain hurt.

Quick search finds a '94 Proline 4 with this Maple neck. So it check out for this time period @Nachobassman

And one Jester had back in '17...

Maple body, neck. Others from '94 have a Wenge neck. Looks like they were mixing up wood combos a bit on the Proline early on.

Long story short @Nachobassman

After a quick Proline Google search fest... In a nutshell, no reason to doubt the one you have on your radar is legit. It checks out.

Interestingly enough, it may be a little bit of a rarity with that ash body and maple neck. Looks like "most" Proline's in '95 were ash/wenge...and a lot (most) in '93 - '94 were maple necked, with maple bodies, like Jesters.

I'd be curious to know if the serial on the one you're interested in is an early month in the year? Maybe a leftover maple neck they had from the '94 run of Prolines.

Nerdfest time: One curious thing on the serial numbers... Seems like the ones with the maple neck have a very low serial number for the year, if that makes sense. Meaning, those necks were possibly made specifically for the Proline and no other model. Possibly. Or just B.O. maple neck production total #. If you notice the serial numbers of the Prolines from that time period that have a Wenge neck.... The serials are much higher, indicating a more modern approach to their serial number taking.... Or possibly that higher wenge BO serial numbers, indicate the total BO wenge neck count, not specific to model.

Hola, again!

Thank you, guys, specially you, @Hoggles, that's some deep research you did. I owe you a beer. Gotta love this forum!
:)

Right now my only concern about that bass is, since my plan about getting another 5 string is to keep my Infinity SN5 away from heavy gigging/touring, if that vintage neck without volute would resist as fine as the "modern" ovankol neck on the Infy... Any thoughts? experience? Isn't that Proline some kind of "gem" itself? (Maybe should I start to collect Warwicks instead of playing ' em?? ;) )

Cheers.

That neck will be fine. The lack of volute was only a problem with some necks - wenge IIRC. The fact it is a 5 string neck also helps as there is more meat too it.

Yeah, can't recall I've seen a 5'er with the "classic" Warwick neck > headstock crack... though I probably have. No doubt it's happened to a maple one or two as well, but yeah, with Chris on this...not nearly as much an issue with the 5'er girth, or maple it seems. Plus this one has survived 30 years, so...should be a strong non-volute neck, Nacho.

And yes...you should absolutely start collecting!
